Best Youth Baseball Coaching Apps (2026): An Honest Comparison
There is no single best youth baseball coaching app, because "coaching" covers two different jobs: scoring the game in front of you, and planning the next one. This page compares six apps on what each says it does, so you can pick the right tool for each job. We make DugoutIQ; we have tried to be fair to everyone else.

Every cell reflects what the product's public site described in September 2026 (sources at the bottom). "Not stated" means the site did not mention it, not that the feature is missing. Pricing changes often; check each site.
GameChanger
Best for: live scoring, streaming, and keeping parents informed. GameChanger (owned by Dick's Sporting Goods) is the default scorekeeping app in youth baseball and softball. Its site describes real-time scoring with team and player stats, HD live streaming, auto-generated highlights and recaps, team messaging, scheduling and lineups, on iOS, Android and web. It is free for coaches; parent and fan subscriptions for unlimited streaming and clips start at $3.33 per month.
Where it stops: GameChanger is built around the game in progress and the stats that fall out of it. Between-games planning (who is owed innings, who can pitch Sunday, what the tournament weekend looks like) is not what the product is for. Most coaches pair it with something else; see GameChanger in the stands, DugoutIQ in the dugout.
Rizzler
Best for: a broad coaching suite across several sports. Rizzler Sports' site describes lineup generation, player evaluation and tryout tools, game scoring with hit and pitch charting, practice planning, scheduling and attendance, tournament planning, pitch count tracking, and playing-time management, with coach, parent and player apps. The free plan covers one team; paid Coach and Club plans exist but prices are not listed on the pages we reviewed.
Consider: Rizzler is the most feature-complete of the group and also the one with the most to learn. If you want scoring, planning and evaluation in one place and your club will pay for it, it is a strong option. If you only want a lineup and a rest board, it is more app than you need.
Lineup Hero
Best for: fast, fair lineups for one team. Lineup Hero's site describes a web app that autocompletes a lineup in about a minute from player position preferences (preferred / available / won't play) and season-long playing-time data, with color-coded fairness indicators, manual override, and a PDF lineup card. One team is free; unlimited games are $2.50 per month per team.
Consider: the site does not describe pitch counting, rest tracking or tournament planning. For a rec team where fairness is the whole problem, that is fine.
CalledUp
Best for: volunteer rec-league coaches who want everything free. CalledUp describes roster with parent contacts, schedule, RSVPs, lineup building and printing, playing-time tracking, parent messaging, snack rotation, and live inning-by-inning scoring, accessible from phone or laptop. The site positions it as free team management for little leagues and rec teams.
Consider: pitch counts and rest days are not described on the site. It leans toward logistics and communication rather than tournament planning.
Bench Coach
Best for: coaches who want an AI assistant that knows their league rules. Bench Coach's site ("Juggle less. Coach more.") describes a lineup creator that generates batting orders and defensive rotations respecting readiness levels, position limits and playing-time goals, plus "Scout," an AI assistant that reads uploaded league rules and answers questions like "Can Riley pitch?". Coaching philosophy (Balanced, Development, Competitive) tunes its recommendations.
Consider: pricing and platform details were not stated on the home page when we reviewed it.
DugoutIQ
Best for: the between-games work: roster and depth chart, tournament and game planning, drag-and-drop lineups with positions by inning, innings-played and innings-sat tracking per tournament, a pitcher workload board with days of rest and a Ready / Limited / Rest status, a printable lineup card, and an AI assistant scoped to your own roster. Season and per-game stats import from GameChanger CSV exports. Free to start.
Consider: DugoutIQ does not do live scoring or streaming, on purpose. If you want one app for the whole day, Rizzler or CalledUp are closer. If you already use GameChanger and want the coach's side done properly, that is what we built.

Coaching apps FAQ
Do I need more than one app?
Usually two: one for live scoring and parent communication (GameChanger is the default in most leagues) and one for the coach's planning work between games. Several of the apps above try to do both; the trade-off is usually depth on one side.
Which app is best for fair playing time?
Lineup Hero, CalledUp, Rizzler, Bench Coach and DugoutIQ all describe playing-time tracking on their sites. The differences are in what is counted (games, innings, positions) and whether it spans a season or a tournament. Try the free tier of two and see which matches how your league counts.
Which app tracks pitch counts and rest days?
GameChanger and Rizzler count pitches live. DugoutIQ computes rest status from imported workload; Bench Coach's site describes a rules-aware AI assistant that can answer whether a pitcher is eligible. Lineup Hero and CalledUp do not describe pitch tracking on their public sites.
